Decided to try Venom on a desktop and really love it. My only complaint was that I had some build failures trying to install packages with scratch. I got the following while trying to setup openbox, obmenu and obconf
Found ninja-1.10.0 at /usr/bin/ninja
[354/1168] Generating test.mo with a custom command
/usr/bin/msgfmt -o gio/tests/de/LC_MESSAGES/test.mo ../gio/tests/de/LC_MESSAGES/../../de.po
/usr/bin/msgfmt: error while loading shared libraries: libunistring.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
[359/1168] Compiling C object 'gobject/tests/36a2d80@@param@exe/param.c.o'
ninja: build stopped: subcommand failed.
==> ERROR: Build 'glib-2.64.3-1' failed.
Then I got this error when trying to install openvpn:
checking git checkout... no
checking for P11KIT... no
checking whether the compiler acceppts -Wno-unused-function... yes
checking whether the compiler acceppts -Wno-unused-parameter... yes
checking whether the compiler acceppts -Wall... yes
configure: error: libpam required but missing
==> ERROR: Build 'openvpn-2.4.9-1' failed.
I could not find libpam when searching with scratch. I did find glib, but it also failed when installing it by itself. I'm not sure if these are things that could be solved from a forum post like this, or if a bug report needs to be made. Any advice appreciated though.
